And Ivor, for heavens sake, carry a flag on a long pole so you can be located peddling the refreshments!

Wow, what a thread.
It's obviously the name and logo that have kept us from winning the World Series only twice since the team was renamed in 1915.
Fact or Fiction - Naming the team "Indians" in 1915 had nothing to do with Sockalexis and everything to do with Nap Lajoie being traded to Philadelphia and the team owner, Mr. Somers, asking the local newspapers to come up with a new name to replace "Naps." The newspapers promoted "Indians" as a take-off of the Boston "Braves" who had rags to riches success the year before.
If the team was renamed, and I believe it should have been done yesterday, to what should it be renamed? Forest Citys, Spiders, Blues, Broncos, Infants, Molly McGuires, and Bearcats have been used in the past as have numerous Negro league names.
Personally, I like "Spiders." Imagine the cool shirts and hats not to mention homemade signs depicting Yankee hitters having their blood sucked out by a Cleveland Spider. COOL. Welcome to the "Web," baby. Time to bleed involuntarily.
On many a warm summer evening in the old stadium, you would see all the bullpen players and coaches huddled up on one end of the bench. Actual spiders had taken over the other end.
Maybe Dolan just needs some ideas. Folks are screaming but nobody is thinking about a new/rerun name. So, to what should our beloved team be renamed?

Now that the opening weekend is a "never was", and the Indians are in their temporary Milwaukee home, what will happen with those 4 home games against the Mariners? After all, they don't have a return trip to Cleveland on the schedule this year. Does this mean we end up playing our home games in Seattle when we're there at the end of September (when 4 games could be a huge factor). Will it even matter?
