I recall hearing about a Ward 2 debate/discussion before the primary election. Did that ever happen? Did I miss something?

I think we have 2 very qualified candidates competing in the ward, and am wondering if there will be a Ward 2 forum of some kind before the Nov election?

thanks.

I should also add that in whatever channel the Ward 2 discussion should occur (i.e., this online thread vs. "in real life"), the issue of "established/not established" should not be a topic.

Who cares, either way?

As a resident, I'm more concerned about ideas concerning the present and the future.

thanks.

John -

Just to make a point, Bullock brought it up. He thought that by saying that the other candidate was "established" he would show himself off to be vibrant and new.

While I understand why you don't care about who is or is not, ask yourself, why did this person choose to try and make an issue out of it? What is lacking that this is supposed to reflect away from. If you want someone who you can believe what they say to you, maybe character is a good measure of who can deliver.

I think establishment/established vs outsider does matter to some people (parallel it to the endorsements vs no endorsements in the other thread). I liken it to how the current GOP presidential front runners are trying to distance themselves from Bush - the establishment. He's unpopular, they don't want to be dragged down.

Perhaps a candidate in this local election would try to distance themselves from the George administration by saying they're not part of the "establishment" in the same sense as the above.

Bryan,

Both would be elected as Council rookies. Neither work for the George administration. Neither are endorsed by George. How much more could they distance themselves from that "establishment"?

Seems kind of silly for Bullock to make THIS an issue.

If an endorsement from Mayor George would have helped the candidates it would be on all of their literature. But we all know he has dogs in these fights.

BTW- Let's not pretend that certain candidates that are especially close to the Mayor didn't hide that fact during this election.

I imagine that he has preferences, just like anybody else.

Colleen - Don't believe your source. He's getting really bad info.

What voters should be wary of most in this election is the Establishment and the Elite. I found out hard that the elite care not about political parties nor do they care about change. They only seek that which benefits them most with as little change as possible. Neither is in the best interest of this city right now.

A vote for the establishment is a vote for continued decay, continued brain drain, and continued despair. Should we even wonder why people are leaving Lakewood and Ohio? We often say in teaching that there are no stupid questions. I am beginning to believe that this is one of them.

Ryan,
Who specifically are the members of the establishment and the elite that you refer to?
Ryan,
Who exactly are these people? The establishment and the elite?
