Unfortunately, that kind of experience is how most egg hunts are for little kids, which is why I avoid them along with most Halloween activities. As to not ruin it for the kids, my husband took my younger son. He is 6 and didn't have a problem. He actually had a great time. My husband said it was as organized as this kind of thing could be. They had a lot of prizes and good candy. They definitetly put money, thought and effort into the event.

Although apparently JOB thinks my kid should be feeding the homeless on Easter instead of having fun getting Easter eggs and candy. Malley's disagrees and so do I

This is just priceless, priceless.

Some of my favorite threads are about signage.

One down one to go.

An interesting side note, it would seem in an effort to make up short falls in the collection plate, a portion
of the church is being offered for lease. I am sure it has nothing to do with churches out of the city.

Of course, maybe they did not celebrate the most holy of holy days properly, with candy
for the kids and parents, prizes, and a trip to Malleys?

Jim, all,

if there are any signs remaining, please post the locations and I will come around to collect them.

The church in question is where I attend.

and yes, there were over 100,000 filled plastic eggs. we began the process of cleaning and stuffing the eggs several weeks ago (most of the eggs were purchased following last years event).

Journey Church has as part of it's goal, serving ALL of the Cleveland area, which is why it is starting up it's third campus, with hopes of more to come... kind of like how The Observer now operates in several communities... if you've got a good message, it's a good thing to share it with everyone. which is why the invitation went out to Lakewood and surrounding areas. We're not trying to steal people away from Lakewood, we're trying to bring the Spirit in.

Bret,

The quality of your church and message are not the issue.

No group should be able to plaster Lakewood public property with signs, nor are they allowed to by law. Your signs were not on private property with approval.

I have seen offending signage in Lakewood for "Mattress Sale", "We Buy Houses", "Earn Cash At Home", bars, etc.. When they are aware, our Law Department will send a letter, or in extreme cases, cite offenders. I support that. I don't think you want your church thrown into the scofflaw mix, your "good message" notwithstanding.

Share away, but legally.

Steve

Here's a thought...take the dang signs down.
Although an after the fact, gone on for way too long, strongly worded letter campaign and fines are the type of management style our fine city is best at...

Bret

I have been meaning to call you for sometime, but glad you stopped in to address this.

I have no ill will towards Journey Church. I have read many good things about them. One of my employees
goes to Journey Church, but not the one in Fairview.

However you have completely underlined what I have been saying. It is an evangelical movement, that took
you from being one of those on the board of a local church, that you yourself described as losing parishioners
to this church outside of the city. Have you spoke to others about how great Journey is, and that they should
check it out. I know you and I am sure you have. My point and the point you underline is members come from
somewhere, and that leaves other pews empty or emptier.

I would like to correct the fact that the Observers operate in other cities as a comparison to Journey. AGS has
taken the Observer platform to other cities, and in each city it is owned and run by people in that city. To my
knowledge, there is absolutely no one from outside the city, trying to get people to move out of those cities, or
even attend events outside of that city. The Observer remains an evangelistic program, but within borders.
What you are talking about is a regional approach to local religion, the Observer is just the opposite, it is Hyper
local as regional and national media just never could understand the needs of each community we are in.

I have to believe knowing that you are involved that it is a great church. Let me invite you to come back to
church in Lakewood, and I will join you, and bring Deb.

Shop local, buy local, pray local.

Jim,

Faith has no borders. Journey didn't "take" me from a Lakewood church. I go where the Spirit leads me. And right now, it's lead me to attend Sunday services in Fairview Park. However, one of the main focuses of Journey is that WE are the church, so rest assured, just because I worship with a group there on Sunday it does not preclude me from maintaining the focus of my personal service on Lakewood.

tell you what, instead of a church service, why don't you come with me to the Bible study I attend. It's in Rocky River at the Cigar Cigars back room on the first and second Wednesday of the month (5:30-6:30pm).

As you underline my point with this post yet again.

Yes, let's go to Cigar Cigars in Rocky River to talk about the bible.

I take it I will be able to buy a cigar there? Or do I bring my own consumables?
