It must be cold really cold outside or at least in hell.. I agree with Jim...

China Solar Panel Maker Sets First U.S. Plant
Suntech Power aims to boost its share of the U.S. market with a solar-panel manufacturing plant to be built in Arizona
Every week to 10 days, another coal-fired power plant opens somewhere in China that is big enough to serve all the households in Dallas or San Diego.

Subsidizing renewable energy in the U.S. may destroy two jobs for every one created if Spain’s experience with windmills and solar farms is any guide.
For every new position that depends on energy price supports, at least 2.2 jobs in other industries will disappear, according to a study from King Juan Carlos University in Madrid.
Yep, China sees a big ROI in anything green. Imagine if we would have invested a percentage of the bailout into green technologies. Instead, we have literally flushed billions of dollars down the drain in industries that will not create a significant number of new jobs..China is only on the bandwagon because they see an opportunity to make money from us by selling us solar panels and CFLs.
If China cared about the environment, they wouldn't be constructing coal plants at a rate of roughly 1 every 10 days.

Stephen Eisel wrote:Roy, do you think that the bailout money was wisely invested? I would have much rather seen the money go to help a domestic solar panel company become more competive then hearing that a major Chinese solar panel company is opening a factory in the US..
Agree! However, if my options are more varied, I'd not even "spend" the money. Cut taxes for everyone, which would help all energy companies, not just solar or wind or hydroelectric or geothermal.

Dustin James wrote:Especially given the fact that the "money" is not even real. It is debt.
We are swimming in it and for the first time in history, an administration and accomplices in congress have introduced the notion of $trillions into budgetary lexicon, like it's perfectly okay. One thousand billion, as if the stuff pours out of fire hoses. They have raided the treasury. If there is no money there, they print it.
Dustin James wrote:70.8% of the earth's surface (2/3rds) is covered by water. It emits vast sums of CO2 and the even stronger greenhouse gas, methane, far more than we could generate in thousands of years of trying.
A frozen peat bog covering the entire sub-Arctic area of Western Siberia, the size of France and Germany, contains billions of tons of greenhouse gas that is melting for the first time since it was sequestered more than 11,000 years ago before the end of the last ice age.
When Siberian permafrost melts, carbon buried since the Pleistocene era is bubbling to the surface of lakes, and dissipating into the atmosphere as methane, a greenhouse gas 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide. But that's just one natural source. The other is the vast oceans. This has already been going on for thousands, if not millions of years. We think our little presence can tip those kinds of scales? How naive and arrogant we little primates are. If the climate does not show warming for say the last ten years (which is the case), then the climatecult will just make up the figures.
What's the United States EPA going to do about Siberia? Go up there and light a match?
If the Russians and Chinese could figure out a way to harvest it, that whole continent would be oil independent by using methane.
