Sharon

I have attended many Republican events, and have always felt welcomed.

They throw some pretty good parties.

Especially at the Scott house!

Sharon,

I hope that you do come, we disagree on a lot but it is always nice to see you. I would encourage anyone of any party to come hear Demro, Shapiro and Shields speak (he just confirmed).

We don't check ID's at the door. ;)

See you tomorrow!

Wow!

Was that good!

Thanks to the Lakewood Republican Club for hosting such a fine gathering tonight at the Lakewood library!

Y'know, Lakewood elections are officially nonpartisan, but you also know how that so often works out...

So often, with a wink and a nod, we STILL pay attention to those old party lines, don't we?

Only in this election, that might be a real mistake.

This evening, I had the opportunity to hear two Republicans and one Democrat discuss stuff that REALLY mattered, here in Lakewood.

All three are presently candidates for Council-at-large. They are:

Ryan Patrick Demro
Jared K. Shapiro, and
Daniel E. Shields

Did I agree with all of their points?

Nope.

Did THEY agree on all of their points?

Nope.

What they DID present was a grouping of three outstanding, and indeed, caring, brilliant minds; focused like high-intensity light beams on the opportunities that Lakewood has- to develop into an even greater destination city for residential and business citizenry.

Citizens present this evening were respectful, and their own questions asked were excellent, as well.

I 'll be writing an article for the Observer having greater details about all of this, but for now, and to all three candidates, I'll simply say "Job well done".

Kudos to the Lakewood Republicans for opening the evening up to the other opponents, as well.

It would have been nice to have seen the other three candidates there...

but you can view my photoblog of the event HERE:

Back to the banjo.

This election will be a real experiment in Democracy. Three candidates willing to meet the people and discuss the issue vs. three candidates who don't.

What does it say if the no shows win?
