And to be fair about Colin Powell, he really felt hoodwinked and misled about the whole thing. The big reason he left the administration is that he felt he was lied to and steamrolled into supporting this and I think he is embarassed by his role in assigning credibility to all of this 'cooked intel.' But he is a good soldier and does what he is told and wont talk about it later, even if he thinks it was wrong.
Bush was not the first American president to take action against Iraq because of the WMD issue.
The UN Security Council also believed that Iraq was a threat and unanimously passed Resolution 1441 on November 8, 2002, offering Iraq a final opportunity to comply with its disarmament obligations. So between the years 1998 and 2002, when, where and how did Iraq dispose of those WMD's?
