Of particularly delicious note to me there, would be the fried shrimp appetizer, their Crab Rangoon, and their won-ton soup.
The food is prepared well-seasoned.
I was turned off from that place when we had to share our eating space with a swarm of ants crawling on the wall & table....ICK.

We've gotten great take-out from Lin Garden in the plaza on Madison and Northland. It's always ready fast. The prices are okay. The woman, I don't know her name, is always kind and willing to dote on my two boys.
It's msg free and impossible to eat small portions, meaning we gorge ourselves on it.
We love the Veggie Egg foo young, crab rangoon, soups, and noodles.

If you order from Sezchuan garden, you have to explicitly ask for NO MSG. They are happy to oblige.

Dee,
I am sorry that you apparently had a negative experience at the place I suggested.
I have enjoyed their cooking for more years that I can remember, and do not recall encountering anything as you described.
They have one of the most flavorful menus that my family and I have ever encountered.
Another place close by that we love, though not in Lakewood, is the Chinese buffet at Warren Village. They are a major cut above any other Chinese buffet that we've ever encountered, with plenty of excellent vegetables, tasty sushi, miso soup, and a hard-serve ice cream section. They have a great selection of fruits, including loquaits- a real sugary sweet fruit treat. They also have a great party room, complete with hand painted full wall mural.
