NONE live in Lakewood, they were there visiting the guy's girlfriend when it all started
AAAAH, just one of the many pitfalls of tourist season.

On a serious note, I really need to get that police scanner, it sounds like a typical night in Lakewood will beat Discovery Channel reruns hands down.

So, were they all from The East Side?

Maybe shooting them would be overkill, if they hadn't really chased the police. But a few clubbings could only help build the brand.

Still. It is hard to understand how people who cause this much nuisance can be intelligent enough to make enough money to afford driving all the way to lakewood.

Please not I paraphrased, as the Capt. called while I was driving on Detroit.

---

One from columbus, one from East Side and one that had no address but said Columbus.

Bret

When you get it stop by and I will be happy to bring you up to speed. It will be Discovery Channel, but will also point out how bad it is West of us a well.

Lakewood seems to be getting a lot of inconsiderate tourists with bad behavior lately. Are we electing a new tour director this year?

Bret,

I think it was worthwhile getting one. You get a greater sense on what is happening in the community. You'll hear the nonsense or ridiculous along with things that are extremely serious. There's the people that call because they can't handle their children, concerned neighbors that are watching the area, nosy neighbors that call the police for anything and everything, noise complaints, groups or kids fighting, listings for cars they're going to or have pulled over for a violation, public intox/OVI's, police chases (very rare, but I've heard 2 in the past year), an armed/attempted armed robbery here or there (sometimes they're getting calls for help from CPD), etc. It's great as long as your wife doesn't mind the constant noise in the background. Then I'd invest insome headphones.

And if one night you don't want to rent a horror movie to scare the dickens out of you, go to the www.cleveland.com/policescanner and listen to the cleveland police. Especially after 11 pm any night. Your mouth will drop open.

So, shooting kids that were holding down a drunk kid who was beating his girlfriend, would be overkill, but clubbing wouldn't?

Build what kind of brand.?

No, no ... I'm telling ya, light them up with some tasers! Non-lethal deterrent.

Jim O'Bryan wrote:Here is the short version from Capt. Hassings on last night event.

Alcohol Involved!

One male causing a disturbance with girlfriend. Two males take him away from her take him outside and hold him down on the lawn.

Police come and handcuff all. then the story is told and all agree. Two are released from handcuffs, and they proceed to arrest the very drunk person being held down.

Then one of them get in the face of the police, I did not hear the word chased. The police then arrest a second person for disorderly conduct.

They all get upset.

NONE live in Lakewood, they were there visiting the guy's girlfriend when it all started.

No one hurt, two in jail.

Well that is certainly not what I saw happening in my front yard last night. There were 4 or 5 males sitting on one and beating him down. Then as soon as they saw the first car come down the street. They got up and cross the street like nothing happen then when officer 1 approached them they became hostel (including the guy on the ground getting beat). He took a swing at the officers, next the two officers ran west on Hazelwood.
(During the scuffle with the police one of the black males took my neighbors for sale sign and put it through a neighbors car window). Jim the sign and the glass are still on the street if you would like to come over and look. Please come over....

No there more than three males beating the one. I found out from my neighbor Sandy that she also saw the police running from the thugs....
At that point they were right in front of her house. Like I said I was on with 911 and reported what I was seeing while it was happening. I wasn't drinking nor do I do drugs I KNOW WHAT I SAW, AND IT WAS MUCH MORE THAT WHAT CAPT. HASSINGS HAS TOLD YOU. My only regret is that I did not pull out the camera and video tape it.

I have no reason to doubt you.

I am relaying what was told to me.

As I said I was driving on Detroit, at the time.

I have never known the Capt. to misrepresent, and I have worked with him more than once. Of course he was not there either and only had the report to work from.

Thanks for the input.

Jim,

I didn't think that you doubted me. Its just that the police version is very different to what we saw. Theirs is more nice nice...

Police come everyone hugs and makes up, flipped a coin to see which two guys go to jail. Everyone leaves happy.

Although I did think that the police handled it very well, because my hubby would have shot someone if he was one of those officers.

Tasers would have been useful last night. Do Lakewood Officers have tasers?

Let me explain my reporting. I am on my way back from LaPita, picking up lunch for the crew. I should have pulled over, but did not. I know I will get a lecture from Chief Malley about that! He always makes me pull over.

I mention the concerns on the Deck about Hazelwood. He tells me the story I basically threw out here. I do not remember hearing 5 guys, I do remember one arrested for being drunk, and one arrested for disorderly conduct. Which I mentioned.

Then I heard the golden words for me: "Domestic Violence, none of them were from Lakewood!" So I thought I had the gist of the story, and a hot lunch hit the office and the keyboard.

I want to make sure you understand, Domestic Violence is out of control. I cannot even understand it. Why relationships get that far, and why would anyone stay with anyone that has shown violent tendencies. It is a no win situation. But it was not a random act of violence. A robbery, a beating of a stranger, a car jacking.

I never asked follow up questions, I never pushed for more information. Two arrests, and the three that were run, none from Lakewood.

So before we blame the police, let's think of how I reported it.

Put the light reporting blame on me not on the Captain.

FWIW
