Is it Possible for an Entire Post (with comments) to Disappear?

Post by Matthew Lee »

On the LO Deck, is it possible for an entire post, both the original and any comments, to be deleted?

I ask this in regards to the question about Brian Essi owing David Stein an apology. There was absolutely a thread, started by Brian, roughly one week ago, accusing David of owning a landscaping firm that benefited financially from LHA when he was awarded a contract.

This post did exist. I know because I Googled David Stein immediately after reading it to find out what he did (owns Cotton and some other stores in Lakewood) and whether he had a landscaping company (which I could find no record of). I did find an older article on Cleveland.com about David buying a rehab and fixing it up. It was on the Lakewood Home tours several years ago.

Point is, this post was there. Now it is not. Nowhere. Doesn't exist. Can't find it.

This is the point of the apology request but, if it doesn't exist, what does one have to apologize for?

Maybe I'm jet lagged and missing it and, if so, I offer my apology. But the post appears to be gone. I can understand a poster deleting their comments. But how can an entire post, with other comments, just disappear?

Matt,

The post is not gone. It's here on the Deck. Scroll up and down on the Deck. There is even a search feature on the Deck.

A poster can't simply delete their comments after a certain period of time.

And an entire post, with other comments, don't just disappear ... but your post certainly has the effect of making people think that they do simply because you can't find what's right here.

The Team Summers and Build Lakewood trolls are certainly out on the Deck lately!

I respect you a lot, Matt.

I previously defended you for not being a troll ... but you are too smart to be a silly "stream of consciousness" thread starter.

You keep asking for just the facts.

As a fact, you are clearly wrong, here.

And yet your false thread exists, here.

Most folks won't understand that you simply had jet lag and decided to attack the credibility of Jim O'Bryan and the project because you couldn't get instant gratification in finding a thread on your own.

What should be the next step?

Should this thread be the first thread intentionally deleted?

Nope.

It will stay here.

Folks will just read the headline and think it's true.

Thanks, Matt,

I know it is hard for many to believe, but there are a lot of people (like me) who still have not made up their mind on the hospital issue.

I am trying to educate myself as best I can and was curious about whether posts could actually be deleted or not. When Brian originally posted, I tried to learn about David. For some reason, I could not re-find that post. Hence my question.

Appreciate the help!

Matt
