Ohio Approves ~$17 Million Tax Credit to Create 400 Jobs

Post by Sean Koran »

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority just approved a tax credit worth nearly $17,000,000.00 to encourage Smucker's to move its pet brands division to Orville, OH, which would bring 400 new jobs to Ohio.

Meanwhile, the City of Lakewood and Team Summers have spent over $1,000,000.00 of public funds trying to eliminate 1,100-1,600 jobs from our city.

Mind boggling.

It's a much neglected aspect of this deal. The State of Ohio spent nearly $100 million to kep American Greetings in Ohio. The City of Westlake spent millions more. All of that investment was to save 1,600 jobs.

Mayor Summers and build Lakewood have offered no plan to replace the 1,500 jobs Lakewood is set to lose when their plan is implemented.

Wait! Some of these players have been working on this for years and years.

Turning, $178 million dollar public asset into a $34 million privately controlled fund, yet to be named or reason why they exist, and there is no plan?

We have the most secretive government in Lakewood's history saying, "Just trust us," again?

Why then would so many sign on to this and put signs in their yards.

It is like advertising for con men to come sell you anything.

$7 million from Jacobs, $34 million from laundering the Hospital, going into private hands. long term loss of millions and millions.

I can understand why many of the key players are in on this, but the followers?
