Can anyone answer WHY the mayor is apparently no longer part of the "negotiations?"

Didn't he "negotiate" the expired LOI?

Why would he step back now?

Is the Cleveland Clinic angry that the LOI they agreed to with Summers went nowhere? Are they the ones not willing to deal with Summers?

It feels like this is some sort of charade.

I'll answer for the Mayor:
"It's the election, stupid!"

As Tom Bullock indicated weeks ago, the Mayor is desperately trying to distance himself from the hospital deal.

The Mayor will spend the next seven weeks talking about happy things like solstice steps. He'll let Jen Pae do the dirty work of defending the Hospital mess.

My experience is attempts at humor don't play well in the hospital discussion, but here goes...

My nomination: Vito Corleone
“Never let a good crisis go to waste." - Winston Churchill (Quote later appropriated by Rahm Emanuel)
