Jenn Pae Blocked Or Locked Out - Not True

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Not True

I have reset her password twice, and she still has problems.

She has numbers to call to work through this and they have not been called.

Universally it usually comes down to a single character.

When we started this project we took extra steps to protect users. One of them is we have
no way to read your passwords. NONE. Unlike other sites that capture passwords for prying
eyes to have fun with, we have no way of seeing them, we can only reset them.

The ball is in her court.

FWIW

Glad you posted this. They try to get mileage out of her supposed "block."

In 12 years of the Deck, 2 sitting it out.

1) Gone for repeatedly posting copyrighted material from another site. I was warned, told
them, and they continued to do it, page after page after page.

2) Deleting posts, trying to use fake names, cyber stalking, bullying. Taking over the LO
identity on FB and Twitter posting hideous things trying to ruin the "Observer" brand. We
all still talking through this, though he has admitted to most in writing.

At the end of the day this is a community run, volunteer effort. To get around it is not hard
but pointless and generally caught sooner or later.

Jenn Pae, has not done one thing to find herself as the third person in 12 years in "timeout."

There are people on the Deck, that have tried to sue me, the Observer and board
members, and they still post, and were never banned. Some are friends now.

There are people with active accounts that have called our advertisers asking them to stop
advertising with the Observer. Accounts active and they post.

The only real reason we have found for time out, is "trying to get us sued." And conduct
that could be deemed as unsafe for members taking part in exercising their 1st
Amendment rights to speak freely without intimidation, threats, or attacks.

There you have it.

And did you really need to start another Observer Forum tread on this subject ?!?

I said nothing other than what I put on the Buzz in response to Pam Wetula’s post on 8/5 in which I said “Finally, I would love to be posting and responding on the City’s other main social media site, but for some reason I have not been able to log on in recent weeks. I’ve been working with JO to try to correct the situation.” and cc’ed others in correspondence to you that I had email addresses for that had either said something on this site and/or accused me publicly of lying (thank you very much Mr. Markling).

I couldn’t log in after multiple email exchanges with you to correct the situation, and now I can. Forgive me for not doing it the second I received your last email, but since you started this tread I thought I would give it another shot.

Finally figured out the problem. You have to type in the full and correct name of the current Mayor when you get the prompt that you had the maximum amount incorrect logins and have to use the CAPTCHA. I was putting in just "Summers" because it does not specify to type in the full name in the instructions.

A suggestion to your site that might help others in the future.

And now let the Jenn Pae-focused acrimony begin . . .

Jenn

I started th thread when the 5th person told me they had read somewhere you were locked out.

The openness of this project is its strength, and sometimes a weakness. We take comments
like editing, deleting, locked out very seriously.

People, like you, and they are interested in what you say. Some like what you say, some
maybe not, at the end of the day, they are your words and thoughts, and knowing you,
they come with value and thought.

The problem seems to be, some have years of facts and are not willing to open up. You are
at City Hall everyday, and involved intimately in the discussions. Any light you can shed
is appreciated, but as I have found out, some do tend to fault the messenger more than
the message.

Thanks for signing back in, most issues addressed within 24 hours.

Leave the thread alone it will fall off the front page in 36 hours or so.

Hi Jenn,

MISSED you, and VERY glad to have you back! Thanks to JO's explanation, and your explanation, of the techie glitches you had to work through. (I had to do that too, earlier, to actually be able to post on the Deck, so I do understand.)

I was not aware of this post until just now.

I am not sure why my name is mentioned in this thread but I have been drawn into email communication with City Hall on "block-gate."

Yesterday, I received the following unsolicited email from City Hall:

    Can you please reset?

So, I sent the following email back to City Hall:

    Jenn,

Please send me the email(s) that you state you have of me discussing you. I have never sent anyone an email discussing you so such an email would be someone impersonating me … to the extent said emails even exist. If no such email exists, then why am I part of your email chain below?

I also don’t participate in the Buzz or other forums that use faux names so any such posts would be someone impersonating me. Please send me whatever posts you are referring to on the Buzz where I am accusing you of lying … to the extent said posts even exist. If no such post exists, then why am I part of your email chain below?

To the extent you are referring to my post at http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=13717, I would note that my post actually reads as follows in response to Bill Call and Bridget Conant:

Bill Call wrote:I guess she has been blocked from the Observer web site so I don't know if she is free to respond on the Observer.

Bridget Conant wrote:She is claiming on other "faux name" sites that she has been blocked from posting but I highly doubt that and I suspect its just another ruse to cast aspersions on Jim O'Bryan.

While Team Summers and Build Lakewood may have blocked her from posting here, I can guarantee that Jim O'Bryan never blocked her.

Jen Pae should retract that statement ... assuming the real "Jen Pae" actually made said statement ... these are faux name blogs we are talking about here after all.

There is nothing in the above post that is accusing you of lying.

I stated that Jim O’Bryan was not blocking you from posting on the Deck, which, as evidenced from the below email chain, is true. You simply forgot your password and how to log back into the Deck. You were never blocked.

I also stated that, to the extent you stated that you were blocked, you should retract that statement as it is not true. Again, as evidenced from the below email chain, you simply forgot your password and how to log back into the Deck. You were never blocked.

I am glad to see that Team Summers and Build Lakewood have not blocked you from posting on the Deck and look forward to reading your personal and professional opinions – even though I respectfully disagree with your opinions and advocacy on behalf of Team Summers and Build Lakewood positions.

In the meantime, I look forward to you clarifying why I am mentioned in and copied on the below email chain.

    Thank you.

    Matt

This morning, I received the following email from City Hall:

    From: Pae, Jennifer [mailto:Jennifer.Pae@lakewoodoh.net]
    Sent: Thursday, August 13, 2015 9:55 AM
    To: Matt Markling
    Subject: RE: Password Helpt

“Jen Pae should retract that statement ... assuming the real "Jen Pae" actually made said statement”

I then responded to City Hall as follows:

    From: Matt Markling
    Sent: Thursday, August 13, 2015 10:10 AM
    To: Pae, Jennifer
    Subject: Re: Password Helpt

    Jen,

    That's my quote.

So, did you tell people you were blocked?

If yes, you should retract said statement since you were not blocked.

If you never made such a statement, then what are you complaining about?

    Matt

I have serious complaints about City Hall leadership.

"Block-gate" is not one of them.

As I stated in my email to City Hall, I am glad to see that Team Summers and Build Lakewood have not blocked Jenn from posting on the Deck and look forward to reading Jenn's personal and professional opinions on the Deck – even though I respectfully disagree with her opinions and advocacy on behalf of Team Summers and Build Lakewood positions.

Can we now get back to discussing the complete mess that Mayor Michael P. Summers and his gang have gotten us into?

Hello Jen,

Please know that any acrimony is about the ideas and not you, the person. I do not know you personally. Some have spoken highly of you on the Observation Deck!

I also had a bit of trouble when first signing up on this site and Jim O had top help me.

I have good friends that do not agree with me on this and a number of issues. We discuss them hotly and point out the flaws we see in the other's arguments and train of thought.

Sometimes we yell at each other and sometimes we laugh at each other.

Sometimes we change the other's mind and often we don't.

The worst aspect of the Lakewood Hospital debate is the divisiveness of the issue. I do blame Mayor Summer's handling of this issue for this problem. You don't. I am tired of hearing people say they can't talk top a friend or relative about this because that person works for the Cleveland Clinic. Or talking to small business owner's who shake their hands in the air because they can't talk about this issue because they don't want any trouble with the city.

At least we are divided on an issue and not a political party!

You have come on strong with your opinions & I am one who responded strongly back at you. But it is not because I feel animosity towards you personally. Please accept my apology if I was disrespectful.

When you put yourself out there...you (& I) are asking for it. That goes for all and everyone that expresses an opinion on this or any other topic.

I for one are glad to see that you are one of the few, the proud, the Opinionated.

Respectfully (but NOT backing down on my ideas),
