Six Months and No Details on Health and Wellness Campus

Post by Brian Essi »

It has been over six months and Mayor Summers and his planning team have provided no details on the "Health and Wellness Campus." Details concerning the Clinic's Family Health Center aka "Specialty Referral Center" remain sketchy at best.

The all new and very confusing "OneLakewood.com" states: "The plan to create a new health and wellness campus was reached after an extensive evaluation process."

After two years of planning prior to its announcement and 6 months since, little is known about the "campus."

I expect glossy architect renderings of the Community Wellness/Recreation Center, Boutique Hotel, housing and retail plans very soon.

Will glossy renderings blur eyes and cloud thinking as to the loss of a hospital and a net loss of 700 jobs?

Those -- and other pretty shiny things -- will show up just before the November elections.

Won't you be my neighbor?"

Is Build Lakewood still claiming that it's a "New Hospital"?

You know, I think Build Lakewood is getting away with using the word "hospital" by putting it in front of "ER". They are using the word as an adjective, not a noun. If you were to ask "What kind of ER is Lakewood to get?". The answer would be, "Why, a hospital ER, of course". The thing is is that it's not a hospital ER at all and will not have all the services and actual (self-respecting) hospital ER would have from what I've read. :(

If they had an honest argument to make they would make it.

I guess the latest idea is to build the family health center on the West side of Belle, tear down the garage and the existing family health center, tear down the medical building and tear down the houses on St Charles and Belle to

make way for a really big City parking lot to serve the needs of the really small family health center.

I think one problem there are running into the REFUSAL of the Cleveland Clinic to guarantee ANY level of service. But they will push for it anyway.

You can't make this stuff up.

I think you meant, if they had an honest argument they WOULD HAVE MADE IT BY NOW.

While the Mayor smiles like a Cheshire Cat and says, "Nothing has been signed..." he is
still going full bore on Ed FitzGerlad and his plan.

Just tired of the spin, the lies, and BS from elected officials and their minions.
