Secret Document: Summers Favors Fairview Hospital

These documents from May 15, 2014, clearly state:

1 There is a need to “expand capacity Fairview Hospital to serve Lakewood” if Lakewood Hospital is closed; and

2 The Clinic will need to “invest in Fairview Hospital to ensure the hospital needs of the Lakewood community are met” if Lakewood Hospital is closed.

The estimated investment need in Fairview is $75 Million.

It is now clear that the proposed CCF Family Health Center will not meet Lakewood’s needs
Summers, LHA and CCF have all known for years that Lakewood needs a hospital.

So Summers proposes to tear down our hospital which will benefit of Fairview.

The item you posted indicates that there are (were) 25 physicians based in ambulatory care in Lakewood. The Mayors water bill letter stated that there would be 16 physicians at the proposed Family Health Center. What happened to the other 9? Are they moving to Avon?

Those were "resources" from last year (May 2014).
Last night we heard at the LHA Board meeting from Shannon Ritchie Interim President of Lakewood Hospital that doctors are leaving Lakewood and out patient surgeries are down 18% this year as a result. I've heard from Dr. Kilroy that doctors are moving their offices from Lakewood in anticipation of the hospital closing.

So I'm not cure who the 25 were in that report, and I'm not entirely clear on the 16 in the water bill letter.

All I know is the Summers plan is failing before it even gets to a vote---This is Madigan's fault too---if she had brought it to a vote earlier it would have failed by now--so the burning of cash is on her shoulders too.

On May 15, 2014, before Summers began "negotiating' with the Clinic, the Clinic proposed a $40 million facility. See the first page posted above.

After 7+ negotiating sessions beginning in June 2014 and ending September 2014 (Subsidium's timeline from onelakewood.com) Summers managed to get them to invest $34 million in the new facility.

I thought that Summers was supposed to be a good businessman, CEO or something?

He seems to have given up $6 million from version 8.0 until the LOI.

I wonder what the Clinic's first offer was?
