Fire On Arthur Avenue, Street Shut Down

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

This afternoon around noon, Lakewood Fire was called to 1570 Arthur Ave. as the house had
filled with smoke.

For the second time that we know of this month, the problem was a dryer on fire in the basement.

This usually happens when the vent to the lint collector gets blocked. One reason to only
use washers and dryers while you are at home.

Luckily, the home owner was there and the police dragged the offending clothes into the
driveway where they were put out.

Great work Lakewood Fire. Homeowners check you lint drawer, and do not overload!

Thankfully, nothing to see, move along.

Always use the flexible metal exhaust pipe. The plastic ones collect the lint and clog ... time to go see Glenn ...

Looks like those folks need to go to the local pants store! Oh, right ... Lakewood doesn't have a Pants Store.

(and based on his penchant for firetruck chasing, I think my pal Jim O'Bryan had dreams of being a fireman when he was a youngster.) Another job well done, LFD (and Jim).

You know it is funny, most people think I listen to a scanner, YAWN, no thank you. I am out and around,
and I get phone calls. This was both, Betsy at a light telling me to look up Arthur, I was late for Lunch
with someone from Build Lakewood, but I drove up and took 3 photos.

Mystery solved, never wanted to be a fireman or policeman.

They work to hard.
