Now It's Gets Interesting - Down Right Ugly
In an effort to silence this 12-year-old media project of the residents, celebrating this 4th
of July our 10th year in print., dedicated to getting the truth and facts, and observations
out is coming under attack by the City of Lakewood, yet again, as advertisers are calling
explaining that they are getting pressure about backing this project, the project that just put the Mayor of Lakewood on the cover above the fold announcing his run for re-election.
Is once again viewed as a threat to City Hall's plans.
This would be this administration's 4th attempt to silence the voices of the residents of Lakewood in this project. If you add in Ed, I think it is the 6th.
These people are getting desperately sick.
Perhaps we should leave holes in the pages where the ads were?
All we have ever asked for is honesty from elected officials.
*** The Cleveland Clinic has not pulled their support for getting voices out.

Better yet, label the "holes" as such: The space formerly bought by [insert business name here].

Advertising is an age old way to exert influence on the media.
Hence, the fluff pieces by Cleveland.com and Crain's on this.
Professionalls like the Clinic understand, the talk is there no matter what. It is far
better to let it get vetted, then to shove it down our throats, and NEVER LIE.
As I have pointed out hundreds of times, they don't have to. Then can crush you at
anytime. But what I believe they have found out through Observer project, is, help
the residents discuss the issues, be there for answers, and in the end, the residents
will respect the time and effort given to them.
It is the little guys, the back alley people that have to crush conversation, and mislead.
They need the shadows, and the night, and never ever walk into sunshine. They do their
deals via peer pressure, and business. The small people hide.
The sad thing is, had they been as open as the Clinic was, this would be very different now.
Had they walked into the sunshine, and trusted the residents, this could be so different.
Support free press, and support local businesses.

Jim,
I agree with much of what you said above. The Clinic will continue to pay you to have their advertising along side the negative press in the Observer.
Back on May 18, 2015, the Clinic's Deputy Chief Legal Officer, Matthew Donley, Esq. sent me a certified letter addressed to “Brian Essi, Esq.” at my home in which he wrote: “It has come to my attention that you have contacted at least one Cleveland Clinic Foundation employee in order to discuss Lakewood Hospital. Please do not have any further contact with any Cleveland Clinic Foundation employees.”
Here is a copy of the letter:
If the Clinic is such a defender of the First Amendment as you claim, perhaps you could explain why they sent me such a letter trying to silence me and trying to prevent me from interacting with my friends, going to Lakewood Hospital for my healthcare etc.?
Why are they afraid of little old nobody Brian Essi talking to CCF employees which include nearly all Lakewood Hospital employees?
Please note that there are a number of LHA Trustees that are afraid to speak with me--do you think they are afraid of me or the Clinic?

Agreed. Thank you Brian Essi. You have devoted many hours to this and I am grateful.
Can the Clinic stop me from talking to employees? I know lots of them and i'd say 99% don't think too highly of their employer. Will they go after me, too?

Mark,
I enjoy your posts.
Its not work if you enjoy it. I enjoy helping people.
I tried my level best to help the Mayor help the City and the underserved.
When I first met Jim O'Bryan on April 25, 2015 and he told me of his belief that this was the Mayor's plan to trade the hospital for soccer fields and a recreation I didn't believe him and I did not want to believe him.
I have been given a gift for finding facts and figuring out complex people and factual problems.
I am just following the facts and helping people face them.
FYI, I've been successful in helping more powerful entities and people than the Clinic and Mayor Summers come to terms with reality.

Re: Now It's Gets Interesting - Down Right Ugly
Brian,
You are obviously doing extraordinary work for the Clinic to come down on you like that.
Good lord, how low will they stoop? Interesting that the letter is so short. It's not only what they say but what they don't say. Mafia tactics anyone? "Two weeks", click.
The letter shows me that despite Mayor Summers' big-time push for this "solution", the Clinic is right on board ready to intimidate anyone who gets in their way by spreading the truth .
Your involvement is priceless, really!
Keep up the good work!

I have the answer.
I just wanted to retire here.
But I guess I'm going to have to reveal my true identity>

Re: Now It's Gets Interesting - Down Right Ugly
I just read the most recent edition of The Lakewood Observer again. See http://media.lakewoodobserver.com/issue_pdfs/Observer_Vol_11_Issue_13.pdf
Tim Laskey wrote the pro-Team Summers article that is on the cover, above the fold (continuing on page 23) and he also has an ad for his business on page 7 of the same edition.
There is a Team Summers ad on page 2.
Chris Bindel's "City Council" article is on page 3.
Colin McEwen - i.e., City Hall's Public Information Officer and Team Summers Member - has four articles on page 4.
Pam Smith is speaking for herself and about 100 others on page 20.
I'm sure that I'm missing many more articles from other members of Team Summers.
Good grief.
Team Summers protests too much, yet again.
