West Shoreway Conversion Begins June 29: Good or Bad?

Post by Michael Deneen »

The long-discussed West Shoreway conversion will begin in earnest Monday morning, with one inbound lane elimated and a reduction in the speed limits.

This conversion will make travel times longer for Lakewood residents that use the Shoreway.

However, could there be an upside?
This conversion will reduce the amount of Bay/River/Westlake/Avon traffic zooming through Lakewood each day on Clifton and Lake.
Many (if not most) of these commuters will likely switch to I-90.
These folks don't really contribute anything to Lakewood....they go 40+ miles per hour, and very rarely stop to spend any money in the 'Wood.
Could this help improve traffic safety on Clifton and Lake?
