police and fire. Another report is a kayaker went out to find them and has disappeared.

Coast Guard has pulled both males from the Lake down by Webb Road.

Both males were transported to Lake Fire Boat then to Hospital for evaluation.

In their 20s, they appeared to be OK

How so, Corey? Really, I'd like to know what exactly you find distasteful. Were they taken to the closest ER or not? What does this situation teach us about the availability of an emergency room in this city that borders on both the Lake and the Rocky River?

Any time an emergency situation happens in this city it provides important information on possible prevention of future situations and how to best handle them if they do occur.

Many departments responded this rescue.

Many rescuers responded to save the lives. Thank you Lakewood Fire and Police, Rocky River Fire and Police, and the US Coast Guard. Thank you to the various Rocky River residents who spotted the young men in the water.

there is no question. Too bad it seems that is not possible on this forum therefore misunderstandings

My first thoughts when I read the post from Jim were about the safety of the swimmers and kayaker. I thought how scared they must be. I thought how courageous the kayaker must be. I wished them safety. I thought about their families and friends worrying for them.

At no point did I think that this would be a good opportunity or platform to make a point about the Lakewood Hospital situation. Never did my mind jump to that.

Noticing that in your posts you did not mention about their safety or well being, not a "glad to hear they are safe..." or anything of that sort - I found it inappropriate to use this situation, especially this soon, as a platform. I found it distasteful when you put in print your attempt at making this life or death situation into a platform without so much as a "glad to hear they are safe..."

I'm sure that you are happy they are safe, but without mentioning it - it made the post seem inappropriate, distasteful, cold and callus to me. There are plenty of platforms but this thread, at that point, is not one of them.

However, the Hospital question is very valid.

"Kill Lakewood Hopsital" says that Fairview is just a couple extra minutes away, so closing Lakewood is no big deal.

However, in emergency situations minutes matter.
They ignore that Fairview has numerous diversion days EVEN NOW..what happens when Lakewood's gone?

This incident reminds us of the many potential crises that Lakewood can face.
Not only do we have 50,000 densely populated people, but many emergency risks.
We have a significant amount of shoreline, we have a major Interstate Highway going through part of town, and we have train tracks running through the heart of our city.
Each of those features poses unique safety/emergency challenges to our city.

I don't buy into the "Wayne LaPierre Rule", which says that important political matters shouldn't be discussed after a tragedy.
As we've recently seen in South Carolina, it can be the the BEST time to discuss political matters.

I'd like to add that Jim specifically stated that the two rescued were OK. As a mother, I'd never make light of any incident involving children or young adults.
You chose to attribute a nefarious motive to my comment that was not there.
