The Observer officially turns 10 years old this summer.
The experts said we'd be gone within six months....but here we are.
It was on this date in 2005 when the first-ever online story was posted....a little writeup I did on the first-ever CCLAS "Hair of the Dog" Happy Hour.

The first print edition hit the streets on June 28, 2005.

I plan to write a little column about the anniversary....and I'm looking for some help.
What are some of your favorite Observer stories/memories over the past decade?
There is a lot to choose from:
*In depth coverage of city hall, including every city council meeting
*The most detailed, in-depth analysis of Lakewood issues....ranging from the relatively small (basketball hoops) to the monumentally large (Lakewood Hospital)
*Thought provoking columns from many great writers, including Gary Rice, Bret Callentine, and the late Gordon Brumm
*News on all the numerous fabulous nonprofits in town
*The source for the best and most school and library news
*Great photos from folks like Jim and Deb, David Lay, Ivor, and now Alex
*Lively online discussions and updates in the Deck
Please share your thoughts and memories!

I can provide great news from the only animal rescue (aside from a city shelter) located in Lakewood. A huge story on Beethoven and others we have helped.

Melissa-- You have been a wonderful part of the Lakewood story over the past decade. Thank you for everything that you do for our four-legged friends.

Since photography is not really my thing to do, I have really enjoyed the photos from all of our photographers. My favorite are the ones of the sunsets, sunrises, and animals in the Emerald Canyon. I also especially enjoy photos that are taken in and around town of the events in our city. Great work done by all. It is really appreciated. I look forward to seeing many more.
