How do you rate the contractors?

Post by Stan Austin »

There are several large public projects going on right now. We have the Madison Avenue repaving, some water and sewer main replacement, and the rebuilding of three schools.

How do you thing the contractors are doing? Does the work look good? How about the coordination and or disruption?

Let me start it off with my observations on the Madison Avenue repaving.

Shelly Construction-- excellent-crews and workers purposeful, energetic, clear progress.

21st Century (cross walk light replacement) these guys have been farting around since last Fall. Not ready for prime time or any other Lakewood projects.

I have been following the water main replacement on Edgewater between Abbieshire and Summit. For such a small stretch of road it seems that it has taken a really long time.

So, let's here it--do you think the City has hired good contractors?

The contractors on Summit Avenue who are replacing the water line have been extremely professional, courteous and kind. The contractors have always made every effort to clear the road in order to get down the street, even when it has been painfully inconvenient for them. They have been very respondent to questions and have offered parking solutions as well as other suggestions.

On multiple occasions they have even escorted our children across the street through the toughest of the construction because their ride home from school could not access our driveway.

Construction always seems to be inconvenient but this crew has made it tolerable.
