Did you know that AmeriCorps programs do more than move communities forward; they serve their members by creating jobs and providing pathways to opportunity for young people entering the workforce. AmeriCorps places thousands of young adults into intensive service positions where they learn valuable work skills, earn money for education, and develop an appreciation for citizenship.

The LakewoodAlive VISTA position will focus on developing a Housing Outreach Volunteer Program. LakewoodAlive works primarily with low-income residents to bolster an evolving volunteer program which aims to create vibrant neighborhoods through healthy, safe, and affordable housing. The Housing Outreach Volunteer Project Program connects residents in need of critical home repairs and housing code abatement with volunteers (skilled and unskilled) seeking to help the community. The program thereby ensures a healthy and safe home while stabilizing surrounding property values. Work is primarily completed in low-moderate income census tracts.
