Jim,
I heard about your post on the Lakewood Observation Deck this morning relative to me going around town holding closed session meetings on the progress of the Active Living Taskforce. Here is the exact reference you posted:
It would seem our politicians, and boards and sold the cow for some magic beans it would
seem everyone in the city has been kept quiet on, but the Active Living Task Force head
has been busy presenting all over the city, in closed sessions, BUT NOT TO THE RESIDENTS!
As head of the Active Living Taskforce, I have given only 3 updates on our progress since our inception.
September 22, 2014 – Lakewood City Council – Committee of the Whole (PUBLIC MEETING)
January 21, 2015 – Lakewood Hospital Community Advisory Committee (Citizens of Lakewood that provide feedback to Lakewood Hospital. At invitation of Dr. Kathleen McGorray, committee member)
February 2, 2015 – Joint Meeting – Lakewood Board of Education and Lakewood City Council (PUBLIC MEETING)
I am pretty sure my presentation from the February 2nd Joint Meeting of the Lakewood BOE and Lakewood City Council has been recorded on videotape so please let me know if you would like me to send you a link. I think it important to note that I simply outlined our methodology for collecting, disseminating and formulating our recommendations in all three presentations. To date, our group has been focused on data collection and dissemination. We have not yet begun formulating any formal recommendations. We are excited to share our work with the community at any time.
I am proud of the work of our great committee members and I know of their personal dedication to do right by the citizens of Lakewood. We have operated in a fully transparent manner and all of our meetings are posted and open to the public. We have benefited from the regular attendance of Ms. Betsy Shaughnessy of the Lakewood Board of Education and Mr. Gary Rick, Director of the YMCA. Due to the committee’s intention of providing a quality product for the citizens of Lakewood and the committee’s steadfast commitment to operating in an above board manner, I am copying them here so they are aware should they receive any inquiries from your posters based on your inaccurate statement.
I ask that you correct your statement on your blog as soon as possible; not by deleting the post (because undoubtedly many Observers have seen incorrect information), but by making a correction later in the thread. I believe this will remedy the situation. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Jay,
Was this a public meeting?
If not, why not?

How about now, using your own words, right here, on the Deck?

He doesn't read the Deck - he "hears" about it.

Committee of The Whole meetings - you mean the ones that take place in the tiny, cramped council conference room that's barely big enough for the committee members, let alone the public? Are these also the same meetings that one must dig through the website to find? Sounds like just more s#!t to me.

Jay,
I think you are being a bit disingenuous.
You have only given three updates to anyone on the progress of the Active Living Taskforce?
Really?
There have been no "updates" to any elected/appointed/anointed public/civic/hospital officials or employees at all beyond the three "meetings" you reference in your letter?
Really?
Is this an issue of semantics as you emphasize the phrase, "As head of the Active Living Taskforce" in your letter to Jim?
How about in your mere role as Jay P. Foran?

Re: A Letter From Jay P. Foran On The Active Living Taskforc
Mr. Foran and other members of the Board had one responsibility: To preserve and protect Lakewood Hospital. They failed. They didn't just fail they were complicate in its destruction.
In a sane world any member of that board and Mr. Foran in particular would be laughed out of town when they start talking about how much they care about health care in Lakewood.
In the words of Oliver Cromwell:
"You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"

Jay Foran is on the Lakewood Hospital Foundation Board, heading the Active Living
Task Force, and is off a year at LakewoodAlive, amongst other things.
Lakewood Hospital Foundation, was to help Lakewood Hospital remain solvent, and to
raise money and awareness for health issues. Of course those goals are changing as
you read this to bleed the money off, probably to another foundation, out of the city
then back again as an economic development engine in Lakewood. As predicted 4
months ago. Just saying...
Actually the Lakewood Hospital Foundation did a good job raising money, and with the
projected surpluses predicted by the Hospital Board, the Foundation could have easily
helped with the repair of the original building.
I wonder which actually leaves Lakewood first, The Clinic or the funds from the Lakewood
Hospital Foundation. Actually I'm not wondering, I know.

In reference to one of my previous posts:
Did the The Hospital Foundation commit fraud when they where raising money for a hospital they knew would be destroyed?

That is a good question. Did Council commit fraud when they spent $10,000 to study
a hotel for Downtown and Lakewood Hospital, knowing the Hospital was leaving.
I do not have the legal background to answer.

Where Jay was most disingenuous is that no group has worked harder at giving City Hall,
Lakewood Schools, LakewoodAlive, Lakewood Hospital Foundation, the Lakewood Active
Living Task Force, all non-profits, residents and Mr. Jay P. Foran a voice, and a way to get
information out, and to make sure he is never misquoted or misunderstood, than the
Lakewood Observer project.
And he knows it.
