Madison Avenue Disrepair

Post by Lori Allen _ »

While out shopping this past Friday, I decided to videotape my journey eastbound on Madison from Warren to about Newman. With the amount, size, and depth of all the potholes, I felt as though I was driving on an obstacle course. It appears as though some drivers have received traffic citations for marked lanes violations on Madison Avenue recently. With on-street parking and endless potholes, how can anyone be expected to stay in a strictly straight line without risking a blown tire, a broken front end axle, or other vehicular damage. I feel that Lakewood has a wonderful police force and I appreciate everything they do for our community. However, couldn't the officer's time be better spent on east end problems and/or school zone speeders rather than writing citations on a road where staying in one lane is practically impossible?

More Pictures of Madison. Sorry I can't figure out how to make them bigger.

I agree that you would think the police have better things to do with their time. I guess it depends on how much swerving is taking place! :)

Thankfully Madison will be resurfaced this year.

Madison certainly is in bad shape but as Ryan has pointed out it is going to be resurfaced this year. Actually, a lot of preliminary work was done last year in anticipation. For instance the gas company installed crossovers at several intersections last summer. And, the crosswalk connections are being rebuilt right now. And, any necessary sewer work is being done so there won't be any punch ins after the new pavement goes down.
Unfortunately, it will probably take most of the warm weather until next Fall to finish the repaving/
