Just because sometimes it matters.

Over two months ago I sent out, and posted three weeks ago, that Lakewood Hospital would be closing, with the announcment coming in the first quarter. I then, with help, speculated how convenient it was for a Charter Revision outlining taking Hospital Association apart, was heading through council just as some potential property would be opening up for those addicted to Economic Development. I also speculated that that would free up $30 million plus dollars to build the Rec/Wellness/Health Center and attract high end development, which with the crew means Dollar Genneral, and Marc's Plaza to the property.

That is exactly what was told to us today, ready the paper, do not listen to "real media" it is all in the paperwork. "Repurposing" the Lakewood Hospital Foundation's $32 million for development of the area with regards to health at this time. Meaning, they can do anything with it. Also in the paper work is the Clinic paying into a Foundation "to be named later." Which take to be what is now called LHF. Essentially the exact post, damn near word for word, and I was told how stupid it was.Can you please direct that hate to City Hall, they are doing the stupid stuff. I just telling it as I see it, truthfully.

On the flipside, at this point this was the best the city could hope for. Because they rolled over like puppies and threw it away for their dreams and a handful of magic beans.

This is not a good day for Lakewood, and I doubt I can vote for anyone that helped in the coverup.

I cannot fault the Clinic, they are doing what they need to protect the Clinic, that is who they are. However once again City Hall has failed to protect the residents of Lakewood.

FWIW

As far as I can tell the Clinics deal is this:

1. Lakewood releases the Clinic from any liability for the violation of its lease.
2. Lakewood agrees to grant the Clinic a veto over any other medical facilities in Lakewood
3. The Lakewood Hospital Foundation is functionally and financially crippled
4. The Clinic will build a minute clinic on Detroit but abandon its other facilities in Lakewood
5. The Clinic can abandon its new minute Clinic without notice for any reason.

Brilliant and concise assement, Bill. And, I'm sure your 1 through 5 numbering was no accident either.

There are only nine elected positions in Lakewood: 1 mayor, 7 council members, and 1 municipal judge. I'm thinking Judge Carroll will still get Jim's vote.

Think about that, folks. NINE positions!!!!!!!!!

Actually, no not brilliant.

First off, it is a letter of intent, there is NOTHING IN WRITING.

Second off the Foundation is not crippled, it is repurposed for almost anything "healthy" or not.
That is $32 million in play for economic development in the hands of the people that have
been psychotically chasing economic development for decades, bringing high points like
Dollar General, Family Dollar, and McDonald's to our neighborhoods. OH and Marc's Plaza!

I didn't see where they are abandoning any buildings in Lakewood outside of the ones near
the Hospital, not the other two, though I may be wrong.

ALSO LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT FROM TOBY COSGROVE - The Hospital Is Closing!
There will be no overnight beds, and no licensed beds will be transferred and none in Lakewood.
Hospitals count licensed beds, with none, it is not a hospital, which puts so many things
in play, into the hands of the people they continuously mislead and deliver low things.

Even the conversation today was mostly spin and BS.
