Superintendent of the Year Jeff Patterson gave tours of the old LHS Building and gyms
prior to them being closed for asbestos removal and being torn down.

And then in walks one of the many "celebrities" Angelo Privitera walks through the door.
Angelo was both a student, coach, teacher and administrator!

Over the past couple months I have had the pleasure of shooting thousands of images of
all of the schools that are being torn down. It has been very melancholy, not because of
the fantastic memories, but because schools, without students or life, seem dreadful. When
abandoned it is even worse. I will be publishing them soon, but for now, here is one of the
gems.
Unseen for almost 5 years, and unused for more, the Lakewood High Planetarium. When
many a star and planet was studied, and many hands held for the first time!
A key had been broken off in the door, so it had been opened for some time. We went
through a hole in the closet eventually to see it as it was for so long.
Last night it was auctioned off for a little over $1,000.
Kind of strange when you think about it. Lakewood, always known for education and
cutting edge technology (only school with a planetarium in Ohio), now trying to find the
money just to build a running track.
