Heroin Winning The War Right Now

It has come to my attention that in the past 24 hours, Lakewood has suffered 7 Heroin
overdoses! It is being blamed on Heroin that has made it to our city that is much purer
than what users have been used to.

This is not a Lakewood only problem, but we really need for the community to come together
in keeping eyes and ears out, and even warning users.

Just because someone made some mistakes, and is now hooked, is no reason to lose them.

The total number for overdoses last week was 9 with 1 death.

While it would seem the wave has subsided, I am sure it will creep back up.

If you know someone using, get them help. Everyday a junkie has moments where
they desperately want to quit. Sadly the will have the opposite reaction and wanting
to use for the rest of their lives.

Addiction can be beaten, but you need a strong will, and good friends and family.

Many drug addictions have their beginnings in the use of legal drugs like oxycontin. One strategy to combat drug addiction should be to encourage doctors to prescribe less pain medication and less addictive pain medication.

That would mean doctors would have to hand out more Aleve with the adage that pain is natures way of telling you that you are still alive.

A nurse told me that in the last few years she has felt less like a health care provider and more like a pill pusher.
