Lakewood Observer Publisher Jim O'Bryan with (from left) Board President Linda Beebe, Editor in Chief Margaret Brinich, Associate Editor Betsy Voinovich and his wife, Debra.
This is great, thanks to the Board of Education, and especially Board President Linda Beebe. I have a long wonderful relationship with Linda as a friend it was nice to get this one, our second, from her. Also Superintendent Jeffrey Patterson has been great to work with. They make it easy to get awards for fair and balanced reporting.
As we all know I have very little to do with the Observer Project, as the project is about an open seat and space in the paper for everyone. Without the people to talking and observering, the paper would be pretty boring.
I have been lucky to work with a great board for oversight, and an even greater group of editors... Margaret Brinich, Betsy Voinovich, Thank you from the bottom of my heart we have become family. Maggie Fraley, always there with the most needed form of support the paper can use, advertisers. Jim DeVito on the Discussion Board is gold! Christine Gordillo at Lakewood City Schools, And of course my wife Deb, who makes it all worthwhile. Thank you all.
What makes these moments so nice, is that we all remember when the Observer and the Board of Education had a more contentious relationship. But this Board, and Superintendent Patterson and Asst. Superintendent Roxann Ramsey have been a breath of fresh air and life into this project. They understand the need for discussion, discourse, answering questions, and the city right to know and understand what they do and why.
That is a healthy thing for the city.
Linda, my good buddy, thank you.
