Old Friends Of Lakewood In Town For Root And WiFi

Elizabeth and Dennis Kucinich stopped by the Root Cafe today for some tea, vegan food,
and WiFi. On their way to Maryland, they both thought it was important to try one more
time to rally support to stop the USA from getting involved in another war.

While Dennis parked the car, swear to god, I don;t ever remember seeing him drive. I'm
sure he did, I just found it odd. Elizabeth who I have had the pleasure of knowing for some
time got caught up on all sorts of things. She truly is amazingly sharp on so many topics
that it always makes me smile. People say, "She is so pretty..." If they only knew just how
wickedly smart she is as well.

So I took the moment to ask, "How do you feel about Scotland potentially leaving the
Empire?" She said it will be interesting the vote on Thursday, and the good people of
Scotland will decide, then I asked her if she had seen this...

She had not.

Then Congressman Kucinich came in and we got caught up briefly as he started working the phone and the internet. Which is how this...

... made its way onto Huffington Post with a great plug for Lakewood and the Root Cafe.

As I left I mentioned to Dennis, there is talk of doubling the railroad tracks, and increasing
rail traffic through Lakewood and the Western Suburbs, it did not please him, stay tuned.

I knew Congressman Kucinich and his family before he opened his office in Lakewood, and
was Mayor of Cleveland. It was great seeing him, and Elizabeth at the Root, enjoying life,
while working hard for things they believe in.

A couple thoughts:

*Did you ask to see his driver's license?

*Root Cafe is a long way from Tony's Diner (old school reference for any west siders and/or Tom Snyder fans)

*What is this about doubling the train traffic? Who is behind this alleged plan?
What is causing the increased demand for rail freight?

Wow!
I found the August 1978 Tom Snyder interview online.

At the time I lived at W. 115th near Lorain Ave.
This was a HUGE event in the neighborhood.

At the time, Kucinich was the "Boy Mayor" that beat back a recall the previous day.
Snyder had the 1AM post-Tonight Show time slot....David Letterman was still working his way up the ranks, and Carson had not yet shortened his show to one hour.

Mike

He would make no comments about Democrats and problems in Ohio.

They both love The Root and India Garden, and look forward to their new place in the old Two Dads.

I was speaking with someone in another city about uses near the tracks and they mentioned, not
right now, they are thinking of putting the second track back in with a "sleight" increase in traffic.
I said to the Congressman, seems like it could just be another political war like Rs wanting
Roosevelt off the dime. (a metaphor)

They both seemed very happy and relaxed, but he was working everything he could on this ISIS/ISIL vote.

Is our current city leadership on top of this?
