Dan Morgan Takes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Yesterday, I got a call from one of Lakewood's finest photographers Dan Morgan, owner
of Straight Shooter Photography http://www.aboutdanmorgan.com/ asking if I
would come over and take pictures of him accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. As Dan
is a friend and always there when I need a good photo, I said sure.

"The Carlyle Pool, 5:30pm be there." As I arrived they were sitting on the upper level of the
pool and with him was his beautiful wife Annette, and a couple Mark Bishop, and his wife
Michelle Williams Bishop. What a beautiful group of people. As I shook hands with Michelle
you could see the twinkle of love in her eyes and she introduced to Mark, handsome guy,
with a great smile. He struggle to his feet, and went through much effort to shake hands,
but the grip and the smile showed a true sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Then
he looked at Michelle and the smile grew, and the eyes grew, and here was a couple that
really were one. But this is just one of the many issues with ALS, it robs the body of ability,
not love, not thought, not humor, just action. It is a vicious and cruel disease.

Dan had decided that he was not only going to do the challenge but he was having Mark
Bishop, creator of Sweet Peat, to do the work of pouring the buck on his head. So...

Then off to the heated pool.

Good laugh by all, and much appreciation for Dan taking the challenge.

Hard to believe such a silly crazy, could go so viral, and not just create amazing awareness
of this terrible disease...

... but also generated over $53,000,000 in funding, and look at the smile on Mark's face!
That alone was worth it all.

The video...

Mark and Michelle it was my pleasure to be there yesterday, to say the experience moved
me would be an understatement. Dan and Annette, as always thanks for the invite, I just
love spending time with you guys, especially when Dan gets doused.

You don't have to take the challenge to write a check for ALS, just send it to: http://www.alsa.org/
