FitzGerald For Mayor, Part II?

Post by Michael Deneen »

It's extremely obvious that Ed FitzGerald's gubernatorial campaign is dead.
He loses the County Exec job on December 31, and it's highly unlikely he'll ever get it back.
After this complete fiasco of a campaign, he can never again expect any support outside Lakewood.

Lakewood has a Mayoral election in 2015.
Many on this board have repeatedly expressed displeasure with Mayor Summers.
I would not be surprised if Summers doesn't run for re-election.

Would you be willing to vote for Fitz II?
LeBron has made "Homecoming" a trend, so all things are possible.

Isn't it possible to get him back before the 2015 election?

I have heard rumors that there was a fall back plan in place since he decided to run...

There are 2 people in Lakewood "leadership" that "owe" Ed; Mike Summers and Kevin Butler. Kevin could resign as law director, then Ed could be named to Law Director. Mike would then resign and Ed would become Mayor and put Kevin back in as Law Director.

Summers has really just been holding the seat for Ed this whole time, which would explain some of the bizarre things he has done. ;)

The only wrinkle in their plan was that the drivers license issue came out. I guess Ed couldn't be Law Director if he loses his law license...

Mike

Really? Early on I heard many rumors that had Ed coming back with Kevin Butler, stepping
down, Ed becoming Law Director, Mike retiring, Ed becoming Mayor.

Dare I say that boat has left.

One might ask, WTF?

Every time I have ever been given a company car, or drove for a company in any kind of
capacity they asked me for my driver's license, and proof of insurance.

The fact that he drove Lakewood City and County cars without a license, as our Law
Director/Head of Police I suppose could somehow be overlooked. But, the entire story is
so weird, and so out there, in a totally wacked way, how could they. I mean every 6
months he was reminded he didn't have a real license, I wonder how many times Ed took
a city or county car to the test?

This story is so wacked, and so not over. Believe me, there is more coming.

As for Council and the Law Director, how did this happen? This Council passed stringent
NEW RULES for applying for a vacancy on council or the Mayor. But they never ask their
good friend to produce anything? I was just put on an advisory board, with ZERO driving
and ZERO ability to enact anything, and I was finger printed, and showed my license.

His only hope is to go for legalization of pot and gay marriage as governor, a stoner hail
o'mary, that could get stoners off the couch, and women, to forget, well whatever as love
for all conquers everything. But this story hasn't even got started.

He has no hope at all. Anything he does from here on out will only look like a cynical attempt to change the subject.

A few weeks ago I posted that he should have come out for weed legalization.
However, he needed to do that way back in January in order to build name recognition.

In retrospect, perhaps I understand why he ran such a lame campaign.
Had he boldly embraced weed, he would have immediately been under the national microscope. We now know that would have been a disaster.

No one will care that it is a hail o mary, he will have to do it, but both groups are large
enough to help push it over. Farmers will love it, though Kasich has a legal to grow plan
he has been kicking around in private for some time. Pharmaceutical Companies only,
re-criminalize possession.

These are trending things, that only make sense for Ohio to get in front of instead of being
the last one on the bus. By the time we got casinos, we were fighting for a share of gaming
money from Lodi, and Wooster! Pitiful.

Yeah, he utters it, he has a chance to finish the campaign.

Hell the stoners will forget it anyway.

I really can't see anyone voting for him for mayor, or welcoming him back. Why? He never sticks with anything. As soon as the opportunity arose, he was leaving Lakewood to run for the county exec.

He's like the Sarah Palin of Lakewood. He doesn't finish a job and he does weird stuff and then gives stupid answers/excuses.

I am dying, sometimes you act so much not like a Lakewoodite.

In the past 6 years I have heard 4 names mentioned as running for mayor. I have heard
of 6-8 different plans to get those people into being mayor. To my knowledge only one
of those people even mentioned elections! Everyone else was, this person steps down, this
person steps sideways, this person gets appointed. Or that person steps down, this person
is hired, and that person get appointed. All but one "plan" avoids allowing the residents a
vote on the subject.

My bad. You are right.

But, he's pretty damaged goods right now. They are crucifying him, and rightly so, for putting his son's illness out there for his own pity party. You really think anyone will care about finding him a job when he can no longer do anything for anyone?

BTW, he thought of himself as the next JFK - too bad the connotation will now be for his womanizing rather than his statesmanship.

Really? Can you present any evidence of these various "resignation" scenarios?
They make absolutely no sense for numerous reasons.

This conspiracy is another example of how the Deck is sometimes like the Alex Jones Show.

Mike

You are killing me, and you are beating a dead horse on this one.

These are not conspiracy theories, they are various plans that have been floated to get
someone in office. This is a typical ploy, get a person appointed then they run as an incumbent.

Ed FitzGerald, appointed to council. Mike Summers appointed, Monique Smith appointed,
Shawn Juris appointed, Anderson appointed, O'Leary appointed, Brian Powers, appointed,
and on and on. The School Board runs in a similar fashion. I am sure you are in enough
political discussion to hear, "Easier for an incumbent..." At the same time many of our
elected officials have not run against an opponent. Mike, maybe we should be asking why?
And figure out how to get more involved.

From there the "plans" come not from the Deck but various people that are connected.

The easiest thing to do, is marginalize and slough it off as "a conspiracy" it is easier and
weaker than the person that put the idea out there.

Meanwhile "The Deck" breaks LeBron James, Ed FitzGerald getting slimed, the two
biggest stories of the year in this country, and many many other things, something Alex
Jones never does. I suppose those breaking the stories just got lucky. Conspiracy
Alex Jones
