I didn't realize it was time for that. Seems like such a waste with all that stuff inside. I would have liked an opportunity to walk through and grab anything I or others could use. Or find things to be donated to various places. Or, heck, even just bag/box up a bunch of recycling to save it from the landfill. Might not be a ton of folks that would do that, but I'm probably not the only one. Any chance we'll be able to do something like that for the three elementary schools? My kids could always use more scrap paper and I see some potential tool or hardware organizers.

Agree 100%. I hope this doesn't happen with the other schools.

I'm surprised by this.

I thought all buildings had to be cleared before demolition for safety purposes.
How do they know there wasn't something dangerous in there?

There's a lot of building materials and supplies being wasted.

Down in Youngstown, they had an open house and "Garage Sale" to sell off parts of Wilson High School, which recently closed.
Alums bought up a lot of the stuff and carried it out themselves.

The Board of Education has held a number of online auctions since the fall of 2013 to get rid of surplus items, including items housed at McKinley. The district sold as much as it could before the City of Lakewood took ownership. There is another auction currently going with all kinds of miscellaneous items - furniture, tools, classroom supplies, etc. Here is the info on the auction, which goes until July 22:

First wall down. This is actually part of extension that was added in the 70s. Robbing the Webb Gang
of their Right Field "Big Red Monster" that signified ground rule double, unless you caught the ball
off the wall.

More later.

I attended McKinley for about half of third grade.
It was a good school.

The 6 hours of videos are being edited down to 10 minutes and will be up tomorrow. We got all the big bangs,
crashes, thuds, and big booms.
