The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival had a beautiful evening for the second night of A Midsummer Night's Dream in Lakewood. The first show on Friday was moved to the Masonic Auditorium because of rain.
Last night's weather was perfect. The park was full of people when the parade of lawn chairs and blankets began arriving for the show.
Lysander (played by Roderick O'Toole, who also played Flute and Cobweb) tells Hermia (played by Jennifer Cull who also played Snug and Peaseblossom) of his plan to get away where the laws of Athens will not apply to them and they can be married, instead of killed.
Long suffering director and talented playwright, Peter Quince (played by Alli St. John who also played Helena and Moth) discusses the many roles that Bottom the Weaver (played by the Allen Branstein who also played Egeus) feels that he is capable of playing in the play within a play.
They did a fantastic job-- -- their version was pure vaudeville-- one of the longest and funniest death scenes ever-- perfect for the park. If you missed it, look up The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival online. They have some more performances. You should go see it, even if you have to drive. It's free and it's great.

Re: Great Midsummer's Night at Lakewood Park last night
Thanks for the kind words, Betsy. We LOVE playing Lakewood. The crowds are fantastic and the venue itself very inviting.
We're very glad you enjoyed it.
We head to the Far East this weekend but are preparing a production of Romeo and Juliet, which will play one weekend in Coventry and two in Lincoln Park (with a one-night excursion to the Market Square park in Ohio City). www.cleveshakes.org or www.facebook.com/CleveShakes
