Lack of real leadership all over this area.

The leadership believes that taxpayer subsidies are the key to economic growth.

No need to bore anyone with links to all of the studies that show subsidies for sports teams do real damage, that casinos don't bring economic growth or that convention centers never make any money.

The leadership already knows that and your average voter doesn't care.

A ticket tax was a perfectly legitimate way to finance stadium improvements.

Think of the Plain Dealer as Pravda on the Cuyahoga. Local residents had to learn about the violence downtown from a foreign newspaper.

The PD is committed to the subsidy model. No matter what the facts show the PD will stick to its support of the subsidy model. It's like an addiction or obsessive compulsive disorder. Even if you know its bad for you, you just can't stop.
