Jim,
I’m counting this as a victory and evidence of the power of The Observation Deck.
I’m guessing that the folks voting for a city manager were going to vote for a city manager before the first “City Manager Review Commission" meeting was ever held.
And, those folks voting against a city manger made the right decision … either through The Observation Deck, divine intervention, or intellectual thought.
But, it’s not over yet!
City Council doesn’t have to listen to the recommendation of the “City Manager Review Commission.”
I’m sure that the good folks at City Hall are already plotting an alternative course of action and will trumpet a 4-5 vote as evidence that the residents want a city manager.
As an aside, the fact that almost half of the “City Manager Review Commission” voted to toss out the entire mayoral process doesn’t speak well for Mike Summers’ reign as mayor. On that issue, we agree.
And, the upcoming Bullock v. Siley mayoral race should be interesting … assuming City Council doesn’t ignore the recommendation of the “City Manager Review Commission” and go with a city manager instead.
