A pretty low key issue that really touches on some of the finer points of Lakewood. And as this is the day of the State of the City, let me assure you it is COLD brrrrrrr.
This issue not only touches on the good people who live here and the great events going on throughout the city, but also underlines just how close or as I say inbred this entire community is. Some easy quick comparisons: while Lieutenant-Colonel Eric Smith tells us of his latest deployment in Iraq and covers our withdrawl, we cover the 2014 Charter Review where his very proud mother, Pam Smith, is one of the appointees. While we cover another one of Lakewood’s famous photographers, Billy Delfs, in his latest job for “edible Cleveland,” we find it published and run by the granddaughter of Lakewood’s ex mayor Frank Celeste, Noelle Celeste!
But no matter, it is still cold in Lakewood. Which always reminds me of the Lakewood Old House Fair, where we can speak with Dave Slife of Slife Heating and Cooling, and father of our 3rd editor Daniel Slife who is now a proud father, living in Wadsworth and running their library!
And there is the upcoming LakewoodAlive Home series being put on by Allison Urbanek, who has done a great job taking over, and who also sits on the Charter Review!
Lakewood, Ohio, the most densely populated community between New York and Chicago, with the same density as Los Angeles, and the same mindset and feel of Mayberry RFD.
Damn I love this city. Especially the residents and small businesses!
Stay warm, the 100 degrees days of June are just 3 months away!
