Potholes

Post by Craig Lovejoy »

Surprised there isn't more discussion on this topic. I did a search for "Pothole and Chuck Hole" and found very little.
I wanted to get some shots of the craters forming at both 117 & Clifton and 117 and Detroit. From the air I realized they are primarily on the Cleveland side. In fact while at Detroit a Lakewood crew came by and filled a number of craters on the Lakewood side. Cars were even yelling THANK YOU as they went by. Way to go Lakewood!
You would think with all the news reports of these two intersections, Cleveland would have made some kind of effort to address the situation.

I'm surprised there isn't more discussion too, although I haven't chimed in because I thought, oh it's just a normal part of winter. I travel 117th everyday on my way to Brooklyn and I can tell you I have never seen it this bad. I know it's been a bad winter but the road has almost become impassable in spots. I've bottomed out on more than one crater that stretches across both lanes.

I saw Cleveland patching enormous holes between Triskett and Lorain late yesterday but I guess they didn't head north to Lakewood. It's gotten dangerous, especially when people were also walking in the street.

I think the County should be seriously thinking about a lawsuit against the concrete contractor that they paid for the resurfacing of W117th. It was a disgrace after one winter. I'm guessing they used the same company on Rocky River Dr because it is just as bad.

The "myLakewood App" is a great tool to address these pothole issues and City Hall has been very responsive.
