More details on the fire reported by Jim O'Bryan from a tenant who asked that his name not be used.
A tenant was running up and down the 2nd floor hallway nude, all day long, threatening to set the building on fire because he was being evicted. Eventually he set his own apartment on fire, Apt number 204. The fire started around 4pm and burned between the second and third floors.
One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, all other tenants got out safely, a cat is still left in Apt. 202.
More details and photos to follow.

I lived two doors down from that building for 6.5 years. There was a resident, one that many in the area probably recognize, that was mentally challenged, to put it mildly. Based on the description of the person running nude all day, I would not be surprised if it was him. Sadly. He was an individual that would walk in the middle of Clifton at all hours of the day and night, walk the streets of downtown, and mumble nonsense the whole time. What is more sad is that no one took care of him. I am as guilty as the next person, as I did not report anything, but still where was his family, or any health aid. Assuming that he was the one who set it.

Chris
It wasn't Randy was it?
Tall thin, glasses, dark hair?
Chris, you are right we can all do more. I try to engage when I can on the street and see what is going on where. I have
bought lots of coffees, and other things to help out and talk.
Randy is a good guy.

Photos I took while at the fire at 14814 Clifton Blvd.
Man taken to hospital is OK
No cause yet.
Damage to 202, 204, 302, 303, 402, 404,
and water damage in 102, and 104.

Around 4pm Lakewood Fire Department was called to 14814 Clifton Blvd. where a fire was ablaze in 204.

Lakewood Fire Department were quick to enter the building and get the fire out. Finding the person that had started
the fire and removed him and took him to the Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.

Fire fighters prepare to go in for the second time and sweep the building.

Checking each others air tanks.

Fire Chief Gilman gets ready to go in for a third time.

Friends and family members arrive to find out what is going on.

Fire Chief Gilman indicates all clear on the thrid walk through.

Mayor Michael P. Summers arrives and gets an update from Toni Gelsimino of Helath and Human Services.

Used air tanks returned to the truck.

The Mayor checks out the building.

Police Captain Stone listens with Mayor Summers on what is the current situation.

Captain Stone and Mayor Summers talk with the man from 206 about what happened and did he need anything.

The tenant that had describe the actions of the man in 204 earlier in the day, and when he set the place on fire explained
to the mayor he didn't know where his cat was. The Mayor and Captain Stome assured him they would do all they could to
reunite him with his cat, and that emergency housing was set up for everyone.

Once again Lakewood Fire and Police do a great job.

Matt,
It appears our justice system may be offering a helping hand:
