Roads are great today, Tim.
Plows were also on the roads.

Re: Where Does This Winter Rank in History?
This topic was inspired by my driveway shoveling, not road conditions.
I was only looking for verification (or debunking) of my perception that this winter is uniquely miserable in terms of total snowfall and total number of single-digit/subzero temp days (which prevents snow from melting).
Please limit discussion of city hall (and the subsequent City Manager idea) to the other thread.

Well, I can't speak for your sidewalk or driveway, Mike.
But, resident sidewalks do seem better managed this year throughout the city. I haven't noticed driveway conditions much.
Business sidewalks seem better managed, too.
Business parking lots also seem to be doing well managing the snow.
I think that the efforts of the schools and PTAs has really helped spread awareness on the importance of managing sidewalks throughout our walkable city.

Re: Where Does This Winter Rank in History?
Just to confirm, this winter IS uniquely miserable. Last night's "mild" winter storm confirms it. Was it worse in 1977? Probably. But I don't remember it.
This is definitely the worse winter in the 15 years we have lived in Lakewood. The combination of bitter cold, constant snow, the snow not melting and the difficult shoveling makes it pretty miserable. The only "bright" side is that the sun seems to be shining more when it is not snowing.
Bring on Spring! (please)

Well, my kids do think that the snow mountain in our front yard is worthy of planting the Stars and Stripes ... they are also really into the Winter Olympics this year, too ...
