We are proud to publish Dr. Charles Greanoff's second part (of 3) on understanding the
Common Core. The new education directive mandated by the state of Ohio, and being
implemented in 46 of the 50 states.
If you have kids, or are an educator please read and share.
No other article has received as much email, or calls in the office, many from outside of the
city and state asking if they can reprint it.
Dr. Greanoff is a history and psychology teacher at Lakewood High School, and has spent
many years understanding the educational system known as "No Child Left Behind" and
its new version "Common Core."
Check it out.

He has an interesting take.
Mr. Greanoff thinks that common core is a conspiracy between the Obama administration, Bill Gates, the teachers unions and private education companies to convert public schools into their own private money machines .
Mr. Greanoff also thinks that public education is just fine and that measuring performance damages education.
I'm not convinced. Not entirely anyway.
If local schools are doing such a fine job why do so many students need remedial education when they get to College?
I think I shall produce an alternative narrative. In two parts, assuming I don't have the time to make it shorter.

This, I think, is a lecture by an opponent of Common Core. If you are unaware, Hillsdale College is an institution that tries to advance strict construction of the Constitution and preservation of what our country has gotten right.

Ironically, the above is why Common Core gained so much traction in the first place. Basically, if a college "knew" that every student had the same background entering college and same learning ability, etc., then remedial needs should diminish. There should not be a need for "remedial" learning, because everyone should be at the same level.
Not saying I agree with that at all, but it is definitely one of the arguments made for supporting Common Core.

Since this is the most recent of the Common Core threads, I thought I'd include this video here:
