Bill Call for Ward 2?

Post by marklingm »

If City Council is serious about accountability and transparency, why not appoint Bill Call to fill Tom Bullock’s vacant Ward 2 Councilperson position now that Tom has been elected to an At Large Councilperson position?

Bill Call is pro-Lakewood.

Bill Call is pro-economic development.

Bill Call is pro-education.

Bill Call has a strong finance background.

Bill Call understands the importance of addressing the Lakewood Hospital issues.

Bill Call is a registered Republican.

Bill Call is a likeable guy.

Bill Call is a consensus builder.

Bill Call is a relationship builder.

Bill Call will question the Establishment.

Bill Call will only have one vote so the other six city council members can just ignore him if they so desire.

Bill Call will be up for an election in two years so the Ward 2 citizens can vote him off the seat if they so desire.

Bill Call will work to improve all of Lakewood ... not just Ward 2.

Bill Call will question the Establishment.

If appointed, Bill will then become a part of The Establishment.

Does that mean he will question himself all the time?!?!? And is that what we really need, another wishy-washy elected official?!?!?!?

btw ... agreed to all the other stuff you said about Bill, Matt.

I hope that Bill Call would question himself and his decisions if appointed, Peter.

I wish that more of our public officials would question themselves and their decisions to make sure that they are acting in the best interest of Lakewood.

Peter, I have worked with our current wishy-washy City Hall officials.

I know our current wishy-washy City Hall officials.

Some of these current wishy-washy City Hall officials are friends of mine.

Peter, there is nothing wishy-washy about Bill Call.

Peter,

I know what you are getting at so this post is not directed at you.

I love how folks try to marginalize Bill Call because he can actually articulate an intelligent argument and position.

Bill Call has always been part of the Establishment.

Bill Call has always supported the Beck Center for the Arts and the Mayor’s Ball, for example.

Bill Call has always supported the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, for example.

Bill Call is part of the Establishment.

If appointed, I am sure that Bill Call will continue to question the Establishment and march to the tune of his own kazoo.

In my book, that's a strike against him ... but then again, it would be a strike against him if he were a registered Democrat.

In my humble opinion, D's and R's and donkeys and elephants mean diddly squat in Smallville politics.

These folks seem to worth looking into: http://uscentrist.org/

Peter,

I agree with you.

Bill Call agrees with you.

Unfortunately, City Hall does not.

Groupthink is never good.

I believe that diversity of ideas is always good for any organization.

Bill Call does, too.

JFK sure had good speech writers (including Arthur Schlesinger, Ted Sorenson and Richard N. Goodwin)

I'd love to see Bill represent us in ward 2. (of course, I'm not sure if that endorsement helps or hurts his chances)

While Bill Call hasn’t even been appointed yet, he already has that Ward 2 smile nailed down to perfection.
