Lakewood Council of PTAs Endorses School Bond

Post by Kristine Pagsuyoin »

The Lakewood Council of PTAs would like to thank all of the PTA unit representatives for their support on Wednesday in helping us pass a resolution endorsing the school bond on the ballot in November. We fully support building 3 new elementary schools; Grant, Lincoln, and Roosevelt, and finishing Lakewood High School.

RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE BOND ISSUE AND MAINTENANCE LEVY

WHEREAS, In 2003, the district adopted a Long Range Master Facilities Plan that envisioned a 10-year program that would result in the rebuilding or renovation of all our schools; and

WHEREAS, On November 5, 2013, Lakewood voters will decide to finish the final phase of Lakewood City Schools ‘ Long Range Master Facilities Plan by passing a 3.25 mill bond issue and .5 maintenance levy; and

WHEREAS, The State of Ohio will pay half the total cost of replacing Grant, Lincoln and Roosevelt Elementary Schools and rebuilding the east end of Lakewood High School in accordance to the eligibility of Lakewood City Schools for state funding through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC).

RESOLVED, That all Lakewood City Schools students will attend a new state of the art school, that every neighborhood within the school community will have access to a new building, and that the high school will be whole which is in the best educational interest of all children, youth and residents. Lakewood Council of PTAs, through its unit representatives, endorses the Lakewood City School District bond issue and permanent improvement levy.

Kristine--- I don't have the primary stake in our Lakewood schools that the Council of PTA's has (kids in the schools), but the Council's endorsement serves to add to my intention to vote for this levy.
