Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Director of LakewoodAlive, Ian Andrews, with Michael Gill editor of the Great Lakes Courier,
CAN Journal, and inventor of the Water Moose, celebrate a trip through it at last year's
Summer Meltdown. The Water Moose has been improved and enlarged, and once again
should be one of the most happening things to enjoy at Summer Meltdown.

Downtown Lakewood, between Marlowe and Arthur Lakewood comes Alive in a celebration
of summer, and various ways to enjoy summer in Lakewood: Food, Party, FUN!
4-10 pm. The road race kicks off behind Geiger's between 4-7pm.

If you see Mike, ask him about his bike ride yesterday. Delivering 1,000 Great Lakes Couriers
to Richfield, Ohio for the Sweet Corn Ride.

Nice flag echo in the photo above, Craig.

I've complimented Jim on occasion for his incredible pics, especially his telephoto captures of intimate moments in the lives of eagles and owls. The other day, Jim followed me, Mike Hulett, and David Alexander all the way to Richfield to document our cargo bike delivery of 1000 copies of the Great Lakes Courier. I had just asked him to drop by the Root to snap a few shots of our departure.

You can see here what he actually did: http://greatlakescourier.com/photoblogs ... s-from-the

Remember the Tavern at Richfield? That's where we ended up. You can read here about how a bike tour -- The Sweet Corn Challenge, July 28 -- raises money to help preserve historic buildings in Richfield, including the one that's home to the famous Taverne. http://greatlakescourier.com/read/2013/ ... ield-after

Meanwhile, I just met Craig Lovejoy Wednesday night while the Revolution Brass Band was playing the Library's Front Porch Concert Series. I saw a guy standing there with a camera on the end of a big, telescopic pole, and had to introduce myself. I've appreciated his point of view since he started posting pictures here. I was never in the frame, though, until the Summer Meltdown last weekend, where Craig captured a whole bunch of kids frolicking in the sprays of the Water Moose Portable Sprinkler Park. Thanks, Craig, it was a great day, and great fun to see from your angle.

Of course I'll have to send both of these photo blogs to my Mom.

Thanks Michael you had your hands full. I liked when you were trying to find a dry spot on your shirt to clean your glasses.

Meanwhile at the Root I met Nikki and Michael Perel, who invited me to their wedding at 4 pom in Lakewood Park. So in
an effort to capture the moment, I left Richfield Tavern, at 3:26pm, stopped off in Tremont to drop off Dave. Then headed
to Lakewood Park for the 4:pm wedding.
