New tenant at Drug Mart Plaza
Not sure if it's called Drug Mart Plaza...the one across from the main library. Lakewood Plaza?
I just rode by on my bike and construction workers are in there sawing wood. The sign said
"Humble" with "wine bar" below it, and "Lakewood Ohio" written above it.
It also said that it would be opening this summer. The way the sidewalk is configured there it looks like this one's going to have front outdoor seating as well.

Sounds like the Detroit Avenue Chow Line is turning into the Detroit Avenue Smoke Gauntlet.
Pacers, Quaker Steak & Lube, World of Beer and now this?

I don't understand this comment. "Smoke Gauntlet?"
This is Dan Deagan's new project, if I am not mistaken. I, for one, am looking forward to its opening.

smokers on all these patios make it less attractive for me to walk in "walkable lakewood."
It also send as very bad message to kids: limit the hours our parks our open; but see and smell more and more cigarette smokers

Then state laws need to be enforced. See Page 3, Item F.

They can stop the patio smokers if they want. Starbucks has a new policy - no smoking n front of their stores or on their patios. And they are enforcing it - last time I was in the Rocky River store on Detroit, one of the employees stepped out and told the smokers to put them out or move further away toward the parking lot or off the property.

This sounds like a great endeavor from the makers of Deagan's. I'm excited.

I'm shocked, most people here love to whine...
Sounds like a exciting new venture. Lakewood has many many standard bars... would be nice to have one dedicated to the vino.

You are pretty good "Stock Holder" yourself. "Stock Holder" a person that owns a vineyard.
I would mention that 1/2 way between Humble and Deagen's is a wine bar called Rozi's that
just invested in redoing the front of their building and building.
So to say it is not like other "bars" in Lakewood is a tad short sighted.
However they have proven to run a good tight profitable ship and I welcome them to the
188 other establishments in Lakewood that serve food or beverages.
37.6 establishments per square mile, if we cannot break 40 we are slacking.

Not sure what's Rozi's has to do with this thread other than it sells wine, but why start sticking to a topic today? ... New tenant at Drug Mart Plaza
Since for whatever reason you brought it up... let me say Rozi's is a Lakewood institution, an excellent place to browse and buy wine and does have a new patio and serves some food items. However, I am discussing a "wine bar" and in particular the Humble Wine bar that this post is about which may be open past 7-9PM depending on the day of the week.
So that being said, I disagree with your statements, pretty much everything I said was straight forward and I wish success to the new business... but thanks for your participation!

I took it you meant a wine bar was a new idea for Lakewood. Not a wine bar open past 9.
I am sure you can understand my confusion.
While I understand your point that a wine bar way down by Drug Mart would have little
impact on in common with a wine bar way down by Cook Ave.
I am sure you can understand my confusion.
I also wished them great success. As I said they have shown themselves to be good
business people and have one excellent Lakewood business already. I would expect the
same high quality from Humble Wine Bar.
Locally owned, and closer to what was envisioned for the "Downtown" area I believe.
A dream come true.

Rozi's is excellent!
Had to jump in here and say that we have had some really great times on Rozi's patio involving wine. I don't know why they don't promote it more-- they could get a lot more customers-- maybe even stay open longer-- but if you don't know, they do these fabulous personal wine tastings at your table. You and your guests can order "wine samplers" of three different wines. You can all order the same sampler, so you are all tasting the same wine, or each of you can get a different one and share, enabling everyone to taste every wine. They have great food to nibble on while you do your private tasting. The breads are fresh and homemade in Lakewood.
The last time I was there we had one of the greatest "cheese sampler" plates ever, to go with the wine samplers. The server was very knowledgeable about everything, making suggestions about what would go with what.
If you are a wine aficionado this would be something to do all the time, to check out the great wines that Rozi's has.
But even if you're not-- you will experience great food, great wine, and the fun of conducting your own wine tasting at your table. There are cards to rate the wines with, so if you forget which one you liked best (you know you can just keep ordering those samplers) you can keep track. It is one of the best nights out in Lakewood. And you can walk!
