Lakewood High has been named one of the top 50 (out of 1,500) finalists in the Vans Custom Culture art contest, where students are asked to create custom designs for 4 pairs of Vans shoes according to 4 different themes. LHS is one of 10 chosen to compete for the $50,000 grand prize in the Northeast Region, which inlcudes 16 states. Please vote for LHS between now and May 13.

Hi Christine,

What cool shoes! Thanks for posting this. I went to the site and voted. Can you post a couple of the kids' shoe designs here? (I tried but I am terrible at photoshop or whatever.) They are excellent. We have very talented students and teachers. If they are this good already, they have won already, but the 50 thousand would be nice.

The Art 4 students from Lakewood High who created the awesome Vans shoe designs will be on WKYC Channel 3's Live from Lakeside program today sometime between the 11 a.m.-noon hour. Tune in if you can or set your DVR! And don't forget to vote if you haven't and urge friends and family to vote, too!
