Cell Phone Coverage (Signal) in Lakewood. How's yours?

Post by stephen davis »

I'm a Verizon customer. My family and I have noticed diminished and erratic signal strength at my house and in other areas of Lakewood over the last 6 months or so. We sometimes see wide swings from 1 bar to 4 bars without moving. Verizon swears there is nothing different in their signal strength.

Anybody else noticing the same? Are you Verizon, AT&T, or something else? Where are the problem locations?

Rhonda,

Is that unusual?

Verizon suggested that if enough people call it might prompt some action.

Stan, I would call you if you lift that restraining order from me.

Steve,

I also have Verizon.

The reception is fine here in Ward 2.

I think it's a Ward 3 issue.

I always get a bad reception when I cross the boarder.

And I can even see Ward 3 from my porch.

Odd.

Steve,

I am glad you brought this up. I have Verizon and have been experiencing issues as well. When I called Verizon they said 8 tickets had been opened today which escalated the issues to a more severe level. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Thank you for taking the initiative.

I learned today that Verizon will sell you a "network extender" to fix the problems you never had until recently. It only costs $250 (There might be a $50 discount available.), and works in your home or business.

Better that everyone call Verizon if they are experiencing erratic reception in ways they aren't used to.

I think Verizon should fix their system, rather than having each of us with poor reception spending an extra $250.

Their service rep did suggest that everyone update their phones by dialing *228. Do it once with "Option 1", and once with "Option 2" for roaming. That suggestion has not helped me, but it may help you.

In a similar fashion, I just found out that Apple won't answer any questions without first paying $249 for a Tech Support package. Customer service really comes at a premium.

I'm Verizon as well. Over the last few weeks, I've noticed the number of bars (signal strength not drinking establishments) decreases the further west I go. Ward 1 has the weakest reception.

Despite what Matt Markling says, it's fine in ward 3.

Charlie,

Some of my best friends live in Ward 3.

I can even see Ward 3 from my porch!

Now, seriously, the only reason you are getting better reception than Steve Davis is because you have the cool new Ward 3 mobile-phone-reception-enhancement-inator.
