Great Horned Owl Babies Leave The Nest

Photos of the growth of a pair of Great Horned Owls in Rocky River Metro Parks, down in the Emerald Canyon. The great diversity of wildlife in an around Lakewood and the Emerald Necklace with it great trails, for hiking, biking, running along with some of the best fishing in the area, make Lakewood a wonderful place to call home. Many refer to it as "The Alaska of the Cleveland Inner-Ring Suburbs." I am just glad to call it home. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did taking them. The nest was empty, then I noticed on a branch over the river one of the babies catching some sun.


More down than feathers he had made it to the branch.


Only half grown at one foot tall it is still an amazing bird.


I think you would agree.


A 100 yards down the path was his sibling, just sitting and watching.


Never missing a thing, people walking by within feet not even realizing he was there.


Amazing birds and only Bald Eagles are above them on the food chain, once they grow up.


Only a few weeks ago.



Now grown and gone.

I have posted the last of my baby owl photos. I still had some from the last couple days, but they
have grown up and are gone.

From a friend following the Deck from L.A. Not sure if that's a real photo, does anybody know? Is that how an owl looks flying?
