Subject: Check cashing scheme
I just got a call from LPD about a scheme where people are called representing a bank or other institution to get some personel information. The caller goes to the bank to try and cash a fake check from that person. The Officer involved has had three calls from banks in the last hour and have two people in custody. They seem to be hitting on the elderly. I know this is incomplete, but it is all I have at this time. Please encourage residents to NOT give out any personal info to a caller they don't know.
