The property was not owned by Giant Eagle, it has remained in the Rego Family hands (Mom) until 2007, when
it was bought by a real estate holding company for the development of Whole Foods, Urban/Gold's Gym. When
that fell through nearly anything was promised to make it seem viable and successful, which is when UA was
brought up.

I do know that group that was successful with inside dog parks in Colorado were also interested in the property
or Ganley.

You are right. My bad. I just remember a lot of talk about WF and Trader Joes and that GE would never let a competitor move in to that space because they still had control over it.

With that said, the UA fell through years ago and would probably be just as closed up as the building is now by then... or never completed. Unfortunate, for sure, but it was a by product of the times. Why are we still pining over it when it has been 3-4 years now, I guess?

Looks great! :D

A nice improvement for that parcel of land.

It would have been more appropriate near the I-90 exits.

I may be able to admit that it's an improvement for THAT parcel of land, but I imagine that it means the one diagonal from it is going to become an abandoned gas station pretty soon and look worse than the building did.

Heather

The Millers still own that property and it was merely on lease to Get-Go. The contract is for another 4 years
I believe, and one of the stipulations is that Get-Go digs up the tanks, and returns it to "pristine condition" so
that it can be built on and is green.

There has never been a tank leak there, so it is a pretty ok place underneath.

The Millers, Miller Sunoco at Lakewood and Detroit are looking ahead for themselves, and Lakewood.

I too think it looks better than what was there. Few things are worse than an abandoned lot or building. Certainly can't see that it's much different than when it was a grocery store. And I for one will likely fill up there as I've usually used the Warren stations but they can be crowded and a pain to enter/exit. We'll see how it goes I guess.

We also plan on using the station. My husband drives a diesel and generally fills up at the Speedway at Franklin and Warren but it's crowded. The new GetGo will have diesel so they will be getting his business.

As far as aesthetics, it looks a heck of a lot better than what was there.

I kind of figured that when Giant Eagle did away with their Food Perks program, we might see some gas pump repercussion ... but this is outrageous!!!

totally agree... with gas stations right off the Bunts, Cracka and Columbia exits, can just Lakewood keep the GetgGo busy enough???

Isn't there already a Get Go at I-90 and W 117th?

It's open! They were doing a pretty good business this morning. Much more space but the pump I was using was very slow. I like the dual air hoses though. The intersection of Bunts and Detroit was much busier and I did see a few kids walking to school but everything seemed orderly.

Love the new air towers! They add/subtract air automatically to your set pressure.
Not only are they FREE, but the gauges are accurate and work really well.
The only thing they need is longer hoses.

Thanks GetGo!
