Great Kauffman Park meeting tonight. The plan was put together in a partnership between Lakewood Alive and Kauffman Park Friends, with input from the community.
Ian Andrews from Lakewood Alive first introduced Jaime Bouvier from Kauffman Park friends and then introduced planner Brian Evans who presented a beautiful, ambitious proposal that had as its goal celebrating every aspect of Kauffman Park: "Lakewood Downtown destination for Education, Exploration, Entertainment-- Kauffman Park."
The plan included trails for running and walking, different areas for reading-- sort of individual reading and sitting gardens with chairs and tables, a natural amphitheater where the little sledding hill is now for music and relaxing, a promenade like entrance on the Arthur Exension, a beautiful tree lined pedestrian entrance on Andrews.
The room was packed and after Mr. Evans' presentation questions and comments went on for more than half an hour, as different opinions were expressed about uses for the park.
Great job Kauffman Park friends and Lakewood Alive.
More in the morning.

Good crowd on hand. Nice to know that what is sure to be a very unique park will serve so many in a very unique city!
And a tip of the hat to Lakewood resident and professional urban planner Bryan Evans who donated his time to this project! Gotta love Lakewood's spirit of volunteerism!!
