Jeff Patterson just robo-called to say that due to high winds and heavy snow, the Lakewood City Schools are closed!!!

Yay!!! And it's really really cold. A perfect morning to let the kids snooze and build igloos later.

Such a relief to hear Jeff Patterson's calm, reasonable voice first thing in the morning with good news.

Thank you Lakewood City Schools for your excellent judgment.

I'm heading out to shovel now. I'll report back in about a half hour on whether its a powdery snow, or the perfect wet sticky snow for igloo and/or snowman building.

OK ... here is my professional* assessment (offered as an in-kind donation to the Citizens of Lakewood )

This snowfall is the PERFECT ALL-PURPOSE SNOW!

Powdery enough for sledding and making snow angels; with just enough moisture content for igloos (or snow forts) and snowballs!


* professional?? -- I've been shoveling snow for a half century (since I was 5 when my father would "suggest" that me and my brothers "get out there and clear the driveway.")

And I just shoveled the drive and cleared off the cars and decided to walk. There's so much snow I'm worried about parking. My street has not seen a plow.
